With the addition of Facebook and MySpace, TweetDeck has gradually gone from being just a great Twitter client to now being a true browser for the real-time web. With the addition of each new network it has become easier and easier to stay in touch with your social circle.

And today we are delighted to announce that in v0.32 you will also be able to keep up with your LinkedIn contacts via TweetDeck too. Thanks to the great new LinkedIn Platform, you will soon be able to add a LinkedIn column to your TweetDeck, showing all the updates from your network that would normally be visible on the LinkedIn web page.

If you want to filter the LinkedIn column to only show certain types of update (e.g. status updates, connections or profile changes), you will be able to manage this from the new filter panel which will appear when you click the column header.

And not only will you see updates from your network, but of course you will be able send status updates, add comments to status updates and view LinkedIn profiles within TweetDeck, ensuring that you are always connected with your professional contacts just as much as your personal ones.

We are thrilled to be adding LinkedIn to the suite of networks available in TweetDeck and we hope you will enjoy being even more connected than ever before.

Look out for v0.32 of TweetDeck coming very soon, featuring lots of very exciting new features....Twitter lists anyone?

Echofon version 2.5 for iPhone is now available on the App Store. We have added the most-requested feature to the free version: support for push and sync.

When using the free version of Echofon on your iPhone, you will be instantly sent a push notification whenever you receive a direct message or mention from another Echofon user. The sender can use the latest version of Echofon on either their Mac (version 0.96), Firefox (version 1.9.4) or iPhone (version 2.5). Get your friends to use Echofon, and you can replace SMS with Twitter's direct messages!

The free version of Echofon now also allows unread syncing. If you use Echofon for Mac or Firefox on your computer, it will keep unread tweets in sync with your iPhone.

Users of Echofon Pro can use the new SMS-like notifications too: a mention or direct message from another Echofon is pushed to their iPhone instantaneously. As before, they also get push notifications for direct messages or mentions from any Twitter app, or the Twitter website. We are also making push and sync for Echofon Pro faster with this version. You will receive notification of mentions and direct messages from non-Echofon sources in 5-10 minutes down from 10-15 minutes.

Learn how to enable push and sync features here: "Echofon Push & Sync Guide"

Read all the differences between the free and pro versions of Echofon here: "Echofon for iPhone"

We are working on lots of new things, including support for the new Twitter features such as lists and retweet. Look for those soon! We also have a completely new app coming soon to the App Store. Follow us on Twitter, @echofon for the latest updates.

Good news everyone, after some initial problems, the updated TweetDeck app for the iPhone is available now from the AppStore.

Here's a rundown of some of the great new features we have for you in this release :

Facebook integration

You can now access your Facebook account as well as your Twitter account to ensure you always stay connected with your friends while mobile. Add Facebook columns, update your status, write on your walls, comment & like... all from within the app.

Video uploading

You can now share videos while on the move. The TweetDeck app allows you to send a videos to both Twitter and Facebook thanks to the built-in 12 Seconds functionality. You can take a video direct with the camera in your iPhone 3GS, or upload a video already stored on your phone. Just remember that any video uploaded will be truncated after 12 seconds to keep things simple.

Landscape compose mode

Need a bigger keyboard when composing your updates? Switch to the landscape keyboard and type away!

Trending Topics

Always be up to date with what's hot in the Twitterverse with the new Twitter trends feature. You can now view the Twitter trending topics in the app and can quickly create a search column to track the tweets that are hitting the big time right now.

Tweets Nearby column

You will always know when your Twitter friends are close, thanks to the new Tweets Nearby column. Using the GPS in your iPhone you can view tweets from everyone within a configurable range of your current location.

Address Picker

You'll never again have to struggle to type @replies correctly, thanks to the new address picker function. One touch will bring up a list of your most active friends. Touch the name of the friend you want to @reply to and their ID will be added to your tweet.

Save Draft

Need to make a phone call or check your email while composing an epic update? Just touch Cancel then Save to keep your message as a draft. Next time you return to the compose window your masterpiece will still be there waiting to be completed.

Open in Safari

Do you ever wish that you could open links direct in the iPhone Safari browser? Well now you can. Just open the link as normal then touch the Safari button to close TweetDeck and open the web page in you iPhone's browser instead.

bit.ly account support

You can now add your bit.ly account details into the iPhone app just like you can in the desktop version. This allows you to ensure all links that you shorten through the iPhone TweetDeck are stored in your own bit.ly account.

These are just some of the highlights from a long list of update, new features and fixes that have been built into v1.1 of the iPhone app.  You can check out the full changelog here.

v1.1.1 of TweetDeck for the iPhone is available in the AppStore here.

List-en very carefully, here’s what’s new with us - Story From: TweetDeck's posterous

There are lots of very interesting things happening in the world of TweetDeck at the moment. Here's a quick update on some of the biggies...

Getting listed

As Twitter start to roll out their newest invention, Twitter Lists, to the whole Twitterverse, here at TweetDeck we are getting very excited about what this means for the future development of TweetDeck. And let me tell you, that future is looking very interesting!

There is rightfully a lot of buzz around Lists, with people wondering what this means for the groups that they have already defined in TweetDeck. Our advice to you right now is to just do what feels right. If you want to create Lists, go ahead! Because, although you can't access these lists in TweetDeck just yet, we are integrating Lists right into the heart of the application.

While we're not saying exactly how we're integrating lists just yet - hey, we all need a few secrets! - be happy in the knowledge that we are integrating lists into TweetDeck. And as you would expect, we're not just planning any old run-of-the mill integration...oh no. We think you'll find that what we have planned for Lists is going to take your social media experience with TweetDeck to new heights.

So for now, if you're one of the people who has Lists enabled on their Twitter account, feel free to create and subscribe on the twitter.com website. You could even start with this one: http://twitter.com/TweetDeck/team, which contains all the folk here in the Batcave.

And don't worry, we'll soon be ready with a TweetDeck release that will make your Lists come alive!

Something special this way comes...

There is a one-off special-edition of TweetDeck, coming your way in the next couple of weeks. The details will remain a mystery for now, but we can say that this will be our most exciting "branded" edition yet.

All will be revealed soon...

We submit!

Do you have an iPhone or an iPod Touch? If so, keep an eye on the AppStore, because we have just submitted an updated version of the TweetDeck iPhone app for review by Apple. We will update you with more details of what's new in this version very soon, so watch this space!

You are the Champions

And finally, we want to say a big "Thank you!" to our TweetDeck Champions.

This dedicated band of loyal TweetDeckers helped us test our latest release and gave us some great feedback prior to go-live. We are really grateful for all their hard work and look forward to getting them all involved in testing the next set of exciting new features coming up in v0.32.

If you consider yourself something of a TweetDeck expert and would like to become a TweetDeck Champion, drop a tweet to me (@richardbarley) and we'll have a chat.

The Real-Time Web at your fingertips - Story From: TweetDeck's posterous

We love getting your feedback. The ideas which you give us and the requests for changes or new features in TweetDeck really give us a buzz. Especially when we think we can really make ideas work and start to implement them. So imagine the excitement in the TweetDeck office just recently while we have been working on three of the most-requested features over recent months: improved notifications, keyboard navigation and Twitter follower management.

To see what we have come up with, head over to http://www.tweetdeck.com now to download version 0.31.

See who's new without leaving TweetDeck

We have introduced a new column type - New Followers. This column will display your most recent new Twitter followers and allow you to perrform all the actions you would expect, including View profile, Follow, Unfollow, Block, Report spam and Add to Group...all without having to leave the comfort of your TweetDeck screen!

Cut out the noise with configurable notifications

TweetDeck has always been the best way to organise your social networking updates through the use of groups and searches, giving you unlimited columns in which to view your Twitter, Facebook & MySpace updates and more. But we know that there are some updates that are more important to you than others. You might read every tweet in your "All-Star Tweeters" group column without fail, but maybe your "Old School Friends" Facebook column is just one you peruse when you're feeling like laughing at photos of you wearing a school cap and short trousers.

Previously TweetDeck would notify you in the same manner for each of these columns - the famous "chirp" sound and the pop-up notification window. Well, from v0.31 this notification system has been dramatically overhauled, so that it is now highly configurable and features a slick new design.

Some of the new features are:

• New "detail" window shows the full text of an update
• Inline reply, retweet & DM from notification box - no need to open full TweetDeck window
• Position the popup notifications in any corner of the screen
• Define notification options on a per-column basis

This allows you to really take control of your streams and ensure that you get to see your most important updates instantly, without having to filter through the "noise".

The Real-Time Web at your fingertips

For many users, navigating TweetDeck with a mouse is not their preferred option, though until now it has been the only method available. In v0.31 however we have introduced a series of keyboard navigation options that we hope will help you manage your TweetDeck interactions without having to take your fingers off the keyboard.

For example, the cursor keys now allow scrolling up and down, left and right. C will open the compose window. Escape will close any menu.

The most exciting part of this new feature is what we are calling the Heads-Up Display (HUD).  Instead of requiring lots of complicated key combinations and CTRL-ALT finger gymnastics, pressing SPACE on an update will display the HUD, which presents the most common actions for each type of update. Each action is associated with the keys A,S,D or F. Simply press the key for the action you want to perform, or move to it using the arrow keys and press ENTER.

We hope you'll agree that this gives you keyboard fans out there a great new way to interact with your social networking friends with zero mouse clicks required.

 And there's more!

Thanks to some optimisation work, TweetDeck should now use up to 15% less memory than before. We have also been very busy fixing some outstanding issues that have been reported to our TweetDeck Support site. For full details of what is included in this release, please see the changelog.

You will also find lots of helpful FAQs which will explain the new features in a lot more detail.

We have added Echofon for Mac to our Echofon family. You can now enjoy the simple and clean beauty of Echofon on your Mac desktop.

Echofon for Mac:

  • is a fully native Mac application
  • is easy to use, just like other Echofon applications
  • supports sync with Echofon Pro for iPhone. You are only shown tweets you haven’t read yet, no matter where you read them

Currently the sync works only with the pro version of Echofon for iPhone, but we are planning to make it available in the free version of Echofon for iPhone in the near future. Since Echofon (formerly known as TwitterFon and TwitterFox) has been downloaded more than five million times to date, we have to be extra careful in rolling out the sync feature so that our sync server works as smoothly as possible.

Echofon for Mac is free while in beta. The full release and pricing will be announced later this year. You can download beta version from http://echofon.com/twitter/mac/

For the instruction to enable sync, please go to http://echofon.com/push-sync-guide.html

We hope you will enjoy Echofon for Mac. Please let us know what you think!
