Ektron, a web content management, social and marketing optimization software and solutions provider, today announced an eIntranet plug-in built with Seesmic Desktop 2 (SD2).  Ektron's eIntranet SD2 plug-in allows users to access enterprise activity streams on the desktop alongside Facebook, Google Apps, Twitter and other social network streams.

Here's what Ektron had to say about the plugin - "Status updates, microblogs, and activity streams have become the de facto standard for sharing information quickly.  Today's intranets must keep pace with the digital world and become a mashup of internal and external content and applications that employees easily can manage and adopt. The combination of Ektron's social business and collaboration application, eIntranet, with Seesmic underscores the business-critical need for forward-looking enterprise strategies that manage everything influencing both external and internal Web use," said Bill Rogers, founder and CEO of Ektron.  "Ektron will continue to align with innovative companies like Seesmic to provide comprehensive, integrated solutions that protect and measurably enhance customers' enterprise technology investments."

The plugin marketplace for Seesmic Desktop 2 has been a huge hit. With over 50 plugins available for download and many more to come, we realize it can get a little difficult to find the plugins that you need. Because of that, we're going to be featuring various plugins in the Featured Plugin Series.

... So we back in the club

Get that bodies rockin from side to side (side to side)

Thank God the week is done

I feel like a zombie gone back to life (back to life)...

- Usher "DJ Got Us Falling in Love"

Lastfm_red   Seesmic Logo

During the course of the work week, while finishing reports, writing code and spending long hours in the office, most of us are listening to music to keep us motivated, helping us concentrate until the week is done. Some of us find that creativity flows and strategies pour while listening to our favorite beats.  One of the most popular social music apps to listen, find, browse and discover music among your friends is Last.fm. We're pretty pumped to have a Last.fm plugin available on Seesmic Desktop 2

If you're a subscriber to Last.fm, here's what you can do in Seesmic Desktop 2:

  • Play any custom artist, or tune to recommend radio stations
  • View visualizations with the artist you are playing
  • View the bio of the artists, upcoming event, find the venues and see the lineup.

Last.fm

It's great to see music integrated into a social desktop application, even if it's just to get us through the week. What's best about the Last.fm plugin is the stunning visual features while playing your favorite stations. Go on and give it a try!

If you haven't downloaded SD2, you can do so here. To install the Last.fm plugin, just visit their section of the marketplace here

Keep an eye out for the next post from the Featured Plugin Series, and we'll see you on SD2!
